One of the most commonly asked questions is, "how do I measure my ring size?" Or, when it's time to buy a gift for that special someone (that includes yourself šŸ˜‰), you might feel a little apprehensive if you're not sure what size ring they wear ā€“ and it feels the room for error is pretty huge.Ā

If you can't ask them or their friends/family directly, don't worry! You can figure out your own or a partner's and friend's ring size with this super easy and accurate at-home method.

First, you'll need to do a bit of detective work. That entails allowing them to try on your own rings, and note down which ring finger they've tried it on. A.k.a did it fit? Was it too small, or just right?Ā

To find your ring size at home, you will need:

  • A ring that fits well. It should fit snuggly on the finger you plan to wear your new ring on. If itā€™s too loose, it could fall off while you are doing other daily tasks or during exercise or a frolick in the forest. If itā€™s too tight, it may hurt while you are wearing it and take some time to get used to wearing as well!
  • A pen (to mark the ruler)
  • A ruler (with millimeters and inches)
  • An open space to work. Make it a comfy experience.

Before you begin, choose a ring that fits well, which isn't open in any way.Ā You'll notice the perfectĀ size is determined by the finger you will be wearing your ring on without tightness or movement ā€“ so if youā€™re not sure what size to get, try on several rings until one looks and feels just right.Ā

The best way to determine your ring size is by using a string or a thin strip of paper. Wrap it around your finger where the band of your chosen ring would sit , mark where the slip ends, and then measure that length against your ruler.

After finding the length of the band in milimeters, compare it to the size chart below.

Ā Inside diameter (mm) Inside circumference (mm) UK ring size
14.48 45.5 G
14.88 46.8 H
15.29 48 I
15.49 48.7 J
15.9 50 K
16.31 51.2 L
16.71 52.5 M
17.12 53.8 N
17.53 55.1 O
17.93 56.3 P
18.34 57.6 Q
18.75 58.9 R
19.15 60.2 S
19.56 61.4 T
19.96 62.7 U
20.37 64 V
20.78 65.3 W
21.18 66.6 X
21.59 67.8 Y
21.79 68.5 Z

šŸ’Œ Passing note: If you can't find an appropriate-sized piece of string or have no paper on hand, you can always use dental floss instead! It's cheap and easy to find atĀ home.Ā

There are multiple sizing charts ā€“ UK (letters), US (inside diameter), and EU (inside circumference). At Lierie, we use the US sizing guide for simplicity.Ā

We hope this simple guideĀ has been helpful for you to find your ring size at home ā€“ without just guessing, and ultimately ending up disappointed.

šŸ–‹ļø P.S. It is important to note that although this method is accurate, it will provide you with the ā€œstandardā€ ring size measurement.

If you are looking for the exact measurement, we recommend that youĀ purchase a ring sizer or measuring stick and use it for life ā€“ or pass it down to your friends and family once you'veĀ figured out your ring sizes.Ā

Happy ring-sizing,
Karolina
