We’d like to speak to the person who only told us about jewellery care once we finally got that gorge new jewellery addition. We have found it darkening a few months in… despite it being a precious metal. This is not meant to happen… right?

So, you’re on that level of adulting, where even your jewellery needs care.
You’re lucky you’ve stumbled upon this blog post – what we like to call a cheatsheet for time-savers and the prevention-is-better-than-cure gang. Scroll scroll.

Don’t wear rings on your immediate neighbours

Not literally. 😉 Try to avoid wearing rings on neighbouring fingers. Give them space to breathe and avoid unnecessary risk of scratching.

A soft toothbrush and soapy water work wonders

If your piece got a little sad and dark – which is entirely natural in the world of Sterling Silver jewellery – it takes a soft toothbrush and dish soap to bring back its shine. A slight buff with a soft cloth won’t hurt, too!

If you’re searching for an even more robust solution, search for an Amber and Sterling Silver cleanser. But be aware not to mix it with Sterling Silver cleanser. Using it on your Amber Lierie treasure will matt it.

Keep stones away from sunlight.

No wonder crystals and fossils keep their colour for hundreds of years. After all, they hide underground, away from sunlight. That gives us a hint – sunlight may make them fade. Who wants their jewellery looking bland? We certainly don’t.

Store your Amber jewellery in soft cotton bags, or make them easy to file and find by organising them in air-tight plastic zip lock bags. You’ll quickly find them online.

Silver tends to oxidise, temporarily making it appear darker – this may happen every now and again, despite keeping jewellery in air-tight pouches. Worry not! Repeat point 2 repeatedly, and make it a true forever with your jewels.

Wear it often

Anyone who has worn jewellery might start thinking, is wearing it daily keeping it pristine? I should wear it less. Contrary to our imagination, wearing your sparklies prevents most impurities from sticking and remaining on the piece. So, don’t feel guilty for giving them genuine love, even if you’re a keep it on your finger for a year straight type of gal.

Bendy rings

Some of the more delicate designs become a part of you as you wear them; lil bends on the backs are at times part of the deal. You don’t need to fix them, but if you's like to, use a jewellery bolt to put it back into shape (they’re pretty affordable, and help you figure out your exact ring size, too!)

Happy jewellery wearing!
Karolina
